The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, in lieu of an MOU signed with the South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, Germany, is inviting the applications to fill the position of "ALLAMA IQBAL PROFESSORIAL FELLOWSHIP" at the "South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, Germany". The tenure of the appointment will initially be for a period of three (3) years on a deputation or contract basis, extendable to a maximum of two years with the mutual consent of the parties on an annual basis.

Perks and Privileges:

• The Government of Pakistan would administer funds provided annually by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, for disbursement of Pay, Allowances i.e. Travelling Allowance, Dearness Allowance, House rent etc., for the professorial fellowship as well as to carry out activities under the professorial fellowship.
• Arrangement for issuing of appropriate multiple entry visas to the fellowship holder and his family members under the appropriate laws of the Government of Germany would be the responsibility of the professorial fellowship holder.
• The air passage and transportation charges in respect of the scholars and family members (wife and children) from Pakistan to Heidelberg University Germany and back would be borne by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training in accordance with the approved rules of the state.
• Other perks and privileges as admissible by Rules.

Eligibility / Qualification Required:

• The professorial fellowship holder will be a Pakistani National Scholar who will not exceed 55 years of age on the date of joining the "South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, Germany".
• The professorial fellow would hold a Ph.D. and a rank of Associate Professor or above.
• Experience: teaching and research or a suitably eminent scholar, with a background in Humanities or Social Sciences.
• The professorial fellowship holder will be proficient in English language.

Job Description:

• The professorial fellowship holder will impart knowledge on Pakistan’s history, culture, people, national and regional languages, eminent literary figures, national heroes, geography and regional economic, political environment for minimum hours and days of a week as per requirements of the University.
• The professorial fellowship holder will devote special time to teaching Urdu, Pakistan Studies, literature and Pakistani culture.
• The professorial fellowship holder will interact with academic community of the Heidelberg University Germany with a view to positively contribute to the relations between Pakistan and the Heidelberg University, Germany.
• The professorial fellowship holder will attend academic forums at Heidelberg University, Germany, on relevant issues and contribute to the conversation.
• The professorial fellowship holder will organize long and short courses as appropriate for the students in studies about Pakistan that are aligned with the objective of the MOU.
• The professorial fellowship holder will extend maximum cooperation to scholars of the Heidelberg University Germany, which undertakes research on any aspect of Pakistan.
• The professorial fellowship holder will endeavor to bring together outstanding Pakistani and the German scholars, intellectuals and eminent persons of letters and Arts from Pakistan and/or Heidelberg University Germany.
• The professorial fellowship holder will organize and conduct conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops and Art exhibitions in Pakistan, as well as film and food festivals showcasing Pakistan’s culture.
• The professorial fellowship holder will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and information to the mutual benefit of Pakistan and the Heidelberg University, Germany.
• The professorial fellowship holder will organize as well as participate in the functions on Pakistan’s various days of importance.
• The professorial fellowship holder will establish Pakistan’s literacy and/or cultural corners in the library of the host universities.
