The Billing Middle Office Manager is responsible for leading the billing operations function within the Finance function. This role ensures accurate and timely generation of billing data, validation and approval of workflows, invoice transmission, issue resolution, and end-to-end billing governance across all Lines of Service. The role oversees the transition to SAP and ensures consistency of billing practices, data quality, and compliance with contractual terms, PwC policies, and agreed billing processes. The Billing Manager leads a team of Billing Specialists, provides guidance to Engagement Teams, and acts as the central point for billing-related queries, escalations, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Billing Operations & Governance:
- Oversee end-to-end billing processes including data generation, validation, approval, and invoice issuance.
- Lead the communications with the Engagement teams on process understanding and evolving process changes
- Ensure billing data is accurate, complete, and aligned with SAP, Salesforce, and project records.
- Monitor billing timelines and ensure invoices are generated according to contractual terms.
- Own and manage approval workflows to ensure appropriate authority and controls.
- Coordinate invoice transmission to clients (electronic or hardcopy) and ensure compliance with global billing standards.
- Responsible for oversight of SAP-generated posting of approved bills.
- Issue Resolution & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as an escalation point for billing issues, queries, discrepancies, or misaligned data.
- Identify recurring issues and drive initiatives to simplify, automate and standardise processes
- Provide guidance to engagement teams on billing policies, billing setup, and correct coding.
- Manage operational interfaces and handoffs with other MO and BES teams
- Collaborate with Finance Operations, Engagement Teams, and Front Office to resolve billing-related blockers.
- Ensure transparent communication and clear ownership of ownership across teams.
- Team Leadership & Quality Assurance:
- Lead Billing Middle Office Specialists, assigning activities, reviewing output, and ensuring quality standards.
- Play an active management role in the small team that manages the BES middle office
- Champion and embed the BMO as a single, trusted engine that standardises, strengthens, and streamlines the billing/engagement administration process
- Ensure the relevant core systems of the Firm (Salesforce, Easy Engage, Replicon and SAP) stay aligned
- Drive a cross team (both middle and back office) culture that supports issue resolution
- Provide coaching, training, and ongoing upskilling of team members.
- Monitor workload peaks, allocate resources, and ensure service levels.
- SAP Transition & Process Improvements:
- Support SAP go-live, testing, transition activities, and adoption of new billing tools and workflows.
- Ensure billing processes align with new SAP architecture (incl. receivable postings, extracts, data structures).
- Identify areas for process simplification, automation, and standardisation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and strengthen billing controls.
Experience and Skills:
- 5+ years' experience in billing operations, revenue processes, or similar finance roles.
- Strong understanding of billing procedures, WIP management, project setup, and invoice approval flows.
- Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems (advantage).
- Previous experience coordinating or supervising billing workload is desirable.
Education and Certifications:
- Business/Finance qualification preferred (e.g., Business Studies, Finance, Accounting Technician).
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
